This latest verson is terrific. Is it possible to include QT and QTVR movies? Would be great.

Suggest having an option to change the font size for captions. That is probably the most important text. Thanks!

paula Says:
February 26th, 2007 at 5:23 am

Also, the ability to NOT have a caption, if one desires.

Theodore K. Diebold Says:

Both the subdued and vivid Spotlight Intro Images appears to be too large for this version. Is that intentional, shows the incompatibility of WGW themes, or testing the waters? The swf file overlaps the banner. The banner is somewhat transparent so the intro shows through there. On the previous release this was not the case. I personally prefer the more subtle colors. These are definitely among my favorites. The other thing is I can find no section under customization that addresses the header and it’s properties ( color or text and text properties )..

Shozam! Team Says:
February 26th, 2007 at 6:52 pm

Paula, you can change global text properties (which affects the captions as well) in Ste 4 –> Customize Tab –> Global Defaults –> Global DefaultsBodyText –> FontSize (default is 10)

Shozam! Team Says:
February 26th, 2007 at 7:06 pm

Theodore, are you talking about size difference between Shozam! themes and WGW themes? The two are not compatible; Shozam! theme structure and design has been rebuilt from scratch and Shozam! themes are not meant to be used in WGW.

Header properties - are you talking about the custom header sample code provided in the help files? The sample code has color assignments hard-wired in the code itself (it is not controlled by the theme editor). Direct HTML input is meant for Web designers or users with HTML experience which want to control what/how things display by entering their own HTML code. This can be very powerful and extend the capability of the program but unleashing this power comes with a risk… If the HTML is not valid, things will break down… This feature is not meant for the casual user.

We do plan to provide sample code that enthusiasts can experiment with but we will not provide support for any unexpected results if users enter their own HTML.

Would it be possible to be able to separately choose the background within the album and the background outside the album? It would make for a much better presentation. The way it is, especially on large high resolution screens (i.e. 1080×1024), it appears as if the album background just flows across the album border.

Howard Rachlin Says:
February 27th, 2007 at 7:19 am

Are things far along enough that I can spend considerable time customizing the Blackout theme and be sure I will be able to use it in the final Sozam version? Do you have a tentative time table for the final version?

Theodore K. Diebold Says:
February 27th, 2007 at 9:22 am

I was aware that the Spotlight theme from wgw was not compatable. My question was based on the Redesigned version. The banner is transparent and the flash shows through. I was able to bring in anothe banner which fixed the view. It did come from another theme though. I have irt posted on my web site under the buttom “this page under construction” Like Howard I have a favorite and when you posted the themes I was excited and I’m hoping this is one that come throuhg into production release.

Thanks for the info. Can you add to the wishlist the ability to have caption font size to be 24pts? Thanks.

Another wishlist item. Multiple transitions for slide show?

I noticed that that when I add photos to a gallery that already had protected/copyrighted markings on them, they get another when I add photos to the gallery and mark them with the copyright symbol. There are now two symbols of different sizes. I tried turning off the protection and that only works with the newly added photos. The original retain the old symbol. On release 2.0.1.0 resolved issue 15 you state that “watermark gets applied to “original” size image; watermark displays at fixed size (no longer scales with the image). Do I have to remove all images when modifying an album and then reload all photos fresh to clear the watermark?

Shozam! Team Says:
March 1st, 2007 at 2:41 pm

Ted, I could not replicate the Spotlight theme quirks I’ve seen on your “under construction” album. Please try it on a FRESH album.

Same thing with watermarks, they work differently now so it is best to start with a fresh gallery in order to have that functionality work as we intended it.

IMPORTANT! NOTE TO ALL USERS:
You may experience some legacy bugs if you keep using galleries that were originally created with older versions of the Beta. if so, you will need to build the gallery from scratch with the newest Beta version. Sorry, for the inconvenience.

Shozam! Team Says:
March 1st, 2007 at 2:44 pm

Paula, you could use the generic HTML field to format captions how you please. However, this would require you to enter it as HTML code… Currently the program uses caption text formatted as the rest of the text, without a way to format captions separately. We may add more fine-grain control in the future.

Theodore K. Diebold Says:
March 2nd, 2007 at 11:32 am

I followed your advice and completely recreated a new gallery with all new photo sets and the copyright is fixed. However now I discouver that I’m having rand problems with the crop function of the intro. I created several different galleries with different themes and stil have croping issue on the intro only. Sometimes it is the bottom two images, sometime bottom three and sometimes all. I know you are close to the next drop so I’ll wait for that before continuing

Bill G. Says:

The ability to have the slide show appear in the same window as the Intro, etc. We use Frames and would want the slide show in the same Window, not a new one

I’ve used this beta the first time today and made a gallery with around 180+ photos in it here: http://www.fortgaines.com/gallery-2006-caf.html

The only thing I don’t care for is the slideshow popping up in a new window. Can it stay in the i-frame?

I was very impressed with all the new functions.

Hampton Says:
March 2nd, 2007 at 8:46 pm

Is it possible to offer multiple items from the same photo in the shopping cart? Can the prices and items be consistent from photo to photo within the gallery? How can I offer packages made up of different photos?
Thanks

Hi Shozam team - really looking forward to the final release. I am trying to convert existing web gallery wizard pro albums to shozam. Smaller simple albums convert sucessfully but my large gallery with 15 albums is not accepted. An error appears saying “This folder does not contain a valid Shozam project file. Please eselect another folder”.

As far as I can tell I have the same base files in the gallery.

Will I have to rebuild from scratch?

All the best

Greg

Shozam! Team Says:

Greg, please select a new name (or location) for your gallery and generate all gallery files. Then try to open that gallery into Shozam!. If this doesn’t work, please also verify you are using the latest version of WGW: http://www.webgallerywizard.com/Support/Version-history.htm

Shozam! Team Says:
March 3rd, 2007 at 11:30 am

Hampton, you can add several Order Items to an image. If you have the same for several photos, select them and create the Order Items for several at once. Please refer to the Help files as to the functionality the program supports.

Shozam! Team Says:
March 3rd, 2007 at 11:57 am

Karen + Bill, the slideshow is meant to be viewed full screen. We can take a look into providing a version of the slideshow page (http://www.fortgaines.com/galleries/2006-CAF/1/slideshow.htm?1-true) to play within the gallery. Maybe even the option for this slidehsow page to become the gallery intro. We would need to get rid of the “Close X” link and probably hyperlink each large image appearing in the slideshow to the corresponding album page… I’ve added the concept to the wishlist.

Many thanks for the help of the gallery upgrade. I worked out what the problem was. The Web Gallery Pro Gallery allows gaps in the album numbering; so when I deleted album 11 of 15 it was OK about it.

Shozam! Does not like a break in the album numbers and hence it claims invalid project file.

I will re generate the last 4 albums in Shozam! Manually

Many thanks for your help

Could you add the ability to add html for the footer as you do for the header? I’d like to add my navigations buttons to the gallery page as I do for my other website pages.

I have just used the Shozam! beta for the first time today to create a demo page. However, I am not a programmer and I have just a vague understanding about what is happening.

In any event, everything seems to be working as planned, except the slideshow function. Would anyone be willing to go to my page and see if you can tell what might be the problem? the page is at:

A warning to any of you customizing the theme. If you add a new background file, make sure that you do not have any spaces in the name. I spent a lot of time trying to track down why I lost my Middle Space Background. It turned out that it was caused by changing from a single word file name to a name with a space - Cloud.jpg to Cloud Background.jpg. Once I changed the name to Cloud_Background.jpg. It worked again.

I would prefer that the file name not show when the user clicks on Details. Is there a way to avoid this?

Dave HockeyShotz Says:
March 5th, 2007 at 10:54 am

I have set up a temp directory with this program, enable the right click blocking to stop the downloading of the images. yet you can just simply drag the image right off the web site, placing it on your desktop, from there you can print the image and it appears to come out with no distortion. If this is possible then what is the purpose of even having the option to block the right click download process. There appears to be no safety feature here other then watermarking the images with fonts and copyright symbols.
Any advice here.???

Seems to be problem day for me.
Another Step 5 issue - “Generate modified files only” does not seem to work. When the updated gallery is generated it goes through all the files and pictures again.

I am finding the same problem as Theodore Diebold had commented on Feb. 27/07. The copyright symbol is watermarking twice. You can see what I mean at http://www.danportphotography.ca Click on the Main Galleries button on the left and have a look at some of the pictures and you will see the double copyright symbol. I have completly erased the old galleries with version 2.0.1.36 twice and still no success in getting it to not do it. BTW: site is not published yet as new Shozam! galleries are still in beta. Please do not pass on site address.

Thanks

Shozam! Team Says:

Greg, we checked various test galleries with gaps in the album sequence and it worked fine so this is unlikely to be the culprit. I am glad you ultimately got your gallery up and running.

Shozam! Team Says:

Howard, we are planning to provide soon a forum for wishlist postings. It will be best to post this request there.

Shozam! Team Says:

March 5th, 2007 at 5:30 pm

Laine, I took a look and I am not sure why the slideshow is not displaying images. Please try to create a new test gallery from scratch and see if the issue persists.

Shozam! Team Says:
March 5th, 2007 at 5:34 pm

Howard, good catch on the theme background file name issue. No way to disable the display of the filename. Please wait until our forums are up (the next week or so) and submit this to the wishlist group.

Shozam! Team Says:
March 5th, 2007 at 5:38 pm

Dave, all HTML/JavaScript protections are flawed one way or another. Watermarking is the single foolproof option. It is also the type of protection used by all major stock image agencies. However, drag-and-drop from the page to the desktop should indeed be disabled too. Please add this to our wishlist group once we have the forms set up, in a week or so).

Shozam! Team Says:
March 5th, 2007 at 5:39 pm

Dan, the mini gallery checkbox is disabled because the feature is not yet implemented; it should be available soon.

Shozam! Team Says:
March 5th, 2007 at 7:16 pm

Dan + Ted, there are some known issues with watermarking that we are working to resolve.

Please ensure that the program can “see” the original images at the location from where you added them into the program. So the program has access to those “clean” images. If the program cannot access the original clean images, it cannot remove or replace a watermark that already has been placed.

Additionally, if you have created the galleries with an older than 2.0.1. Beta version (which I think is the case based on the two different sizes of the (C) symbol), there may be some legacy issues introduced.

Your gallery looks great; you may want to post a link to it to the gallery showcase forum, once we have it up and running in a week or so.

Hi Razvan

Thanks for the reply:

I simply followed the instructions re video and pulled flash files into the gallery. Nothing special.

Windows media player controls do not all work for some reason; mute pause start being the only active ones.

Yes it would be nice to have an opening picture of the video to give an idea of content.

Shozam import does work with Web Gallery Pro projects – I did not include original hi res pictures as this did not seem to work on the final Shozam Gallery. A page “error!” was displayed in the bottom left hand side of the browser screen.

I will post this response to the forum

With kind regards

Greg Marshall

Greg,

Interesting about the video; I was not aware it was supporting SWF yet. Did you do anything special or just added an SWF file in the wizard’s video tab and it plays this way by default, using the Windows Media Player?

The cropping does not look correct on the intro pages; it is likely because you started building with an older Bea version. New galleries started from scratch should display better the images on the intro animation page.

Latest version of Shozam! should import WGW 1.5 galleries without problems.

Shozam! will release with generic video icons but your request is solid. Please add it to the Forum Wish List once we have it up and running in a week or so.

Sincerely,

Hi there

Look under www.solihullarts.org.uk and in the video section for the Shozam beta. I am using it for presentation of student work in flash format. I have not yet labelled the contents.

Look under gallery and our students for the web Gallery Wizard sites which I want to transfer to Shozam as soon as the migration route is available from Web Gallery to Shozam.

If you can give me a migration tool I will upgrade to Shozam on all galleries.

I am wondering if there will be a thumbnail view of videos in Shozam?

Hope this helps

With kind regards

THanks so much. I know just enough html to be dangerous! I just can’t seem to get it. Could you post a sample? Thanks again.

Overall I am impressed with Shozam but have had several issues with it recently. First: I tried replacing the flash file (using the blackout theme which I modified to my own taste) with a flash file I created. When previewing my flash file in a browser everything seems to work fine, ie sound and images are in sync. When I build my gallery and view it then the sound and images are way out of sync. Anyone else had this problem or know a remedy? TIA. Second issue: When adding images to an already created gallery there are frequent issues with saving the new additions, “ie” Shozam either crashes or gives and error about not being able to create the gallery. Now if I try saving it to a new folder it works fine. Unfortunately I have so many folders now it’s getting a bit confusing as to which one I want to modify. Have posted what I’ve created on my website and have had very good comments about how Shozam functions on the web. Thanks for a great program. Have been using WGW1.5 previously and looking forward to the final release of Shozam.

Dan,
one thing I had to do to help clear the copyright sign problem was manuall delete all of the original files before starting over. AN make sure that “create modified files only is unchecked.
