  • Shozam on Windows 7

    We have released a new version of Shozam that runs on Windows 7. For the most part this version (v.1.0.7) works the same as before; however, it does generate all files when the gallery is generated. You can download it from:

    IMPROVEMENTS

    • Introduce a prompt to generate gallery when moving from Step 5 to Step 6 after changing gallery name or location.
    • Shozam upgrades now will activate automatically, without requiring Helpdesk to manually provide a new activation key.

    FIXES

    • Fixed an issue where Shozam would generate unnecessarily all gallery files, even with "generate modified files only" checked in Step 5.
    • Fixed an issue where Step 5 will not remember edits in various user interface text boxes after click Back and then Next buttons.
    • Fixed an activation issue where entering an invalid key would prompt a message "activation successful" even though activation actually would have failed.

    • Step 5 --> Generate tab: Installing a Shozam version update will now force Shozam to generate all gallery files regardless of the "generate modified files only" checkbox in Step 5 (ensuring Shozam update propagates through all gallery files and preventing odd incompatibilities)
    • Step 5 --> Generate tab: All gallery files generated if gallery folder is deleted or not found
    • Step 5 --> Generate tab: Improved clarity of the main tab in Step 5 which now has a new field for Gallery Folder Name. This should make it more explicit where the gallery files are stored and prevent issues and confusion that occured in earlier versions. TIP: You can use this now to hide your gallery title from displaying in the top banner of your gallery pages. Learn more...
    • Step 5 --> Generate tab: Gallery path in Step 1 and in Step 5 will now be in sync, which will prevent issues when a gallery is manually moved to another location. Step 5 Gallery Folder Name and Gallery Location fields are now prepopulated from the path displayed in Step 1 of Shozam rather than from the gallery project file - WebGallery.xml.

    IMPROVEMENTS

    • Improved compatibility of themes with Linux servers; sometimes theme background graphic was not displaying. (Changed theme folder image introbkgrd.jpg Capitalization (introBkgrd.jpg) for first them to make consistent with other themes.)
    • Improved compatibility with web servers that do not recognize correctly or transcode certain special characters. (Shozam now replaces `!@#$%^&()+~; _  -  [ { ] } ‘ , ©=-_Ø宀'™  characters in the image filenames with “_”.)
    • Step 2 --> Map tab: Added dropdown options 0 to 19 in for zoom
    • Better map display: There will be new UI Map options available at Image/Gallery map and also at Step 2 View Map.
    • Better map display: Map zoom level will start from 0 and not 1 at Step 2 map tab.

    STABILITY FIXES

    Handled program stability issues for the following scenarios:

    • Step 2 --> Video tab: Preview click when Video file is Invalid/ Implemented same for audio/image preview (testcase 15569)
    • Step 2 --> Video tab: Select Preview from context menu for invalid video/image file (testcase 15636)
    • Step 2 --> Video tab: Previewing video (also from context menu) while video file is invalid or source deleted
    • Step 2 --> Audio tab: Previewing audio while audio file is invalid or source deleted
    • Step 2 --> Image tab: Previewing image from Context menu while image file is invalid or source deleted
    • Step 3 --> Options tab: Previewing audio while audio file is invalid or source deleted

    • Duplicated albums generation after deleting all Source images of particular album having multiple albums before generating gallery.
    • Access to path issue for My Shozam Themes folder.
    • Access to path issue for Gallery folder.
    • Generate Gallery when theme folder is not accessible.

    KNOWN ISSUES

    These are existing issues that are known:

    • Video files will not play *locally* in any browser other than IE 5; once uploaded it will play great in all browsers. Same for Original (source) file.
    • If internet connection not available or some other net issue occurs, map file will give JavaScript error on page.
    • If an existing gallery (created with an ealrier version than 1.2.35) has duplicated file names and if you open gallery in any later versions (including 1.2.35), due to duplicated file names Shozam will remove one image and it may generate twice the remaining image.
    • Due to security Windows Vista users not logged in with full administrator account privileges can only run Shozam if launched with “Run as Administrator” .

    2008.10.10 - Version 1.2.31

    Fixes: Generate "modified files only" feature vastly improved and now requires far fewer files to be generated. When modifying large galleries, the time required to process, generate and upload your gallery files is decreased by 50-90%, leaving you more time to have fun!

    [Technical detail: this version update changes the structure of the gallery project file - WebGallery.xml that is generated in the root of the gallery folder. Galleries are forward compatible but not backwards compatible. This means galleries created by versions older than 1.2.30 can be opened and converted to the new format. Galleries created by this version cannot be opened by Shozam using versions older than 1.2.30. If you have a special need to use an older version of the program, we recommend you backup your gallery project files.]

  • Shozam version 1.2.27.0 update is released

    Shozam version 1.2.27.0 update is now available for free download.

    2008.05.06 - Version 1.2.27.0

    Fixes - this release mainly fixes issues reported by users related to the previous release

    NOTE: Fixing map issues in existing galleries requires re-generating all HTML files. For this you can uncheck the "generate modified files only" in Step 5. This will also reprocess and re-generate all image files, which is not neccessary. Another option is to re-generate (all) HTML files only. For this, just change the View Type for the Gallery Map following the steps below:
    > Start Shozam
    > Step 1 --> choose to modify existing gallery
    > Step 3 --> choose to modify an album (does not matter which)
    > Step 2 --> select the the Map Tab --> deselect all thumbnails
    > Click the View drop-down selector and select a different type
    > Generate gallery (you can keep "generate modified files only" checked)
    > Follow the steps above again and change the View Type back and re-generate (optional)
    > Upload

    • 11122: Fixed issue where Shozam did not run on Windows Vista. Ticket: 3C1-0FAB185D-3662 
      [Technical detail: Issue was triggered by the change of version format from four number groups to three. Fix relies on changing back to the longer version identification. The significance of each number is now as follows: 1) Major version, 2) Minor version, 3)Update release number, 4) Typically not significant.

    • 10972: Expanded previous Map fix to display all markers on the main map of the gallery. Now this happens not only in new galleries but also in existing galleries, created by previous versions of Shozam
      [Technical detail: Added support for trimming the XML for an existing gallery, making it compliant with the new format required by the changes to the map section]
    • 11128: Fixed issue where the map label appeared on existing galleries.

  • Shozam version 1.2.26 update is being repaired

    We have discovered several issues with the latest version 1.2.26 update released a couple of days ago.

    There are two main issues related to this version 1.2.26.

    1. Some users on Vista cannot run the program correctly. This is due to Vista permission requirements and the functionality was affected in this release. Installing the previous version of the program will rectify this situation. You can install this from the regular location, as we have pulled out the new faulty update:

    2. Some user report that some of their images are not being generated correctly after installing the latest update. Pages get generated but red Xs get displayed in the browser where images should have appeared. This seems to be a permanent corruption in the sense that installing the previous version of Shozam will not correct the issue. We are still investigating the cause of this and the best fix for it. As a last resort, users should install the previous version of Shozam, delete the affected images and then add them back to the gallery.

    We appreciate you patience as we work on resolving the pending issues and are sorry for inconveniences caused to the affected users. Thanks to the users reporting the issues and assisting our fixing efforts through the Shozam Helpdesk. We currently expect all to be sorted out by early next week and provide a new clean program update at that time.

    Improvements

    • 10973 Improved interoperability with Microsoft FrontPage. Fixed issue where Shozam Slideshow Page displays tiny 31px x 31px images.
      [Technical detail: Issue was caused by FrontPage with Server Extensions enabled on the server as FrontPage would edit gallery pages without any explicit command to do so or any notification to the user that it has done this. Fix includes specific code on the Slideshow pages instructing FrontPage to not touch those files.]

    • 10972 Improved Gallery Map functionality. Fixed issue where Map does not display all markers on the main Gallery Map. This fix affects only newly created galleries.

      [Technical details: Changed the assumption of showing the gallery map with only one particular marker as it is given to global gallery map. Default changed to show all the markers of maps in the gallery. If user does not selected any image in the album, then Shozam will disable all the controls, except the View selector which allows user to select the type of view for the Gallery Map.]

    • 10974 Improved program stability. Fixed crash which happened under some situations when user in Step 3 clicks on an album while Shozam is still loading other albums.
      [Technical detail: implementation was changed as in the case of user clicking Next/Prev buttons.]

    • 10381 Improve page layout artifacts and cross-browser compatibility. Fixed issue where on longer gallery pages (like when having many PayPal Buy buttons, which extend the height of the gallery page) the page footer does not go all the way to the bottom of the page when viewing the page in Firefox and Safari. Rather, it overlapped with page content (or the Buy buttons). Ticket: 232-0F248F19-881 (other support tickets related to this issue as well)
