    New Install Expired?

LightningI got really excited when I saw this new gallery. I downloaded it, installed it (on Vista as administrator), and opened the program. The only thing that opened was a bubble telling me the trial period has ended?! Is this just my luck?

    Re: New Install Expired?

I'm nost sure why that would be happening. I'm still using the last beta v1.0.0.4. I know you have to enter a code to get it to work. The code is on the first page that comes up after shozam starts. I know shozam is very close to release and possibly the beta has expired. Last word was that shozam would be released this week.

    Re: New Install Expired?

I've exactly the same problem. Yesterday I have downloaded the beta release from www.shozam.com and installed it on my Windows XP Home Edition SP2 system. When I start the program I says immediatly "Trial period of this application has expired. Please contact the vendor". There is no possibility to enter a code or something else.

     Regards,

    hi,

We had this problem last week when we restarted my sons home PC, I know it was working before because he was using it. We restarted the PC after replacing the BIOS battery and then the trial  would not work, says it is lite version, same with  a few other trial softwares he had on his PC. So we assume have expired because of the date being incorrect. We tried to uninstall the programs and reinstall them, some worked but sadly  it did not work for Shozam. My son  is a bit dissapointed, the only  other pc we have in the hose is my  work laptop  but company  policy  does not allow us to  install software on it for personal use.

    Re: New Install Expired?

I've run into a major problem with the registration key. I was out for about 6 hours today and when I got home I found I'd had a power failure here. I had shozam (latest beta) and some other programs open (in windows XP). When I did a reboot shozam shows it's the lite version and won't take the key. I get an error saying it's already expired. This is the most recent beta. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times but still I get the error that the key entered has expired. Also during uninstall I get the message some items could not be uninstalled, or something to that effect, and can be removed manually. I can't find anything relating to shozam to remove manually. Any ideas why this happened?

    Tom,

It is possible to get the above message if your system date was not set correctly or it has been modified after installing Shozam on your machine. Please remember that Shozam has the inbuilt functionality to detect any clock changes. Also, Business Edition happens to be a limited period version and should return back to TRIAL edition once the end date is detected. It may be that you have set the clock ahead letting the beta expire which eventually will let the program run in TRIAL mode. If you have not made any changes with the system date then it is a different issue which we should be looking into. Please update us on this via Shozam Help Desk.

Similarly, Shozam generates some files that may not get removed after uninstalling the program. You can find these files in your program's installation folder. Please note that these files are used to carry forward some data (like your FTP preset settings of the existing version) and then integrate into the next version automatically.

    Re: New Install Expired?

Only odd things I noticed on the reboot were this. XP did give a message about resetting my resolution (for better performance or something) and it also did a "time" update. The date and time were correct before the outage, and are correct now. I had about 7 or 8 programs running when I had the power outage and have had issues with some of the other programs, such as corrupted emails , one database that got corrupted, and some other minor issues. So since the dates and times are correct why won't shozam detect that after uninstalling and reinstalling?  After uninstalling and getting the message "some files were not removed" and "could be removed manually", there was no shozam folder left. It did get removed.

Will shozam actually go on sale on the 10th? Running in lite mode is basically useless to me. Since I will be using it for a business and  the gallery I was in the middle of making, I would really like to see it get released. I've written several testimonials about shozam as have quite a few other people in the forums. Everyone has been very patient waiting for the release but all this is getting a bit frustrating.

Oops, I forgot. I did submit another ticket about the odd things on reboot and the time.

    Re: New Install Expired?

Tom, it seems your system reboot and clock reset have triggered one of the anti-clock tampering protections built into Shozam. Our Development Team is working on a fix so you are not left stranded. This is related to the larger issue of key activation and protection which is causing the release date to slip beyond the scheduled release date. We have a dependency on a third party for this functionality and we are in turn frustrated with the delays.

The purpose of the Beta program is mainly to identify any major issues, like the one you experienced, and ensure these get fixed before we offer the program for sale. In any case, rest assured that if resolving these issues triggers further delays, we will keep extending the Beta program so early adopters, like you, are kept with an operational program until the actual release date.

We are working around the clock and doing our best to quickly fix any of the remaining issues. Additionally, we had our Design Team work on refining the release version of themes, increasing their number from 8 to 20 and providing them to the Beta users (the final themes were originally scheduled to be offered only in the retail release version). I hope these offerings will help alleviate some of the frustrations that are inherent in adopting a program during the Beta phase.

    Re: New Install Expired?

Tom, please supplement the Ticket you submitted to Help Desk with information related to what happens if you try to put the Name and Key as they appear in the left side of the screen (which also are identified in the Blog post http://community.shozam.com/blogs/shozam/archive/2007/04/28/new-final-beta-post.aspx)

If you get any errors, please detail the error and possibly submit a screen capture as well.

    Re: New Install Expired?

    Razvan,

Thanks! I would like to apologize if I seemed abrupt about this issue. Yes I am frustrated with what happened but my frustration should not reflect on you or your staff. I definitely understand about betas and realize that you have had to push the release date back several times for various reasons. I would like to say overall I have been happy with shozam and the features it has , and know that it will do what I am looking for. You have bent over backwards for the users of shozam and I for one appreciate it. Am looking forward to the release, whenever that might occur. Thanks for providing us with a great program!!!!
