    Slideshow does not work

    I bought the Business edition of Shozam and I published a gallery at http://www.themarketfloorcenter.com/ (Gallery link) and all works fine except the Slideshow option. The help desk said it may be the Frontpage extensions and I tried Cowboys suggestion (http://community.shozam.com/forums/t/496.aspx ) with no success. So I tried publishing to a site that does not have Frontpage extensions installed (http://www.westwoodgolf.info/MFCWebgallery/) and it also works but NOT the Slideshow. Does anyone have any suggestions?

     I sent this issue to Help desk but they have not responded. I have an "antsy" client who would like to know when it will work right.

     Thanks in advance!

    Re: Slideshow does not work

    Everett,

    The second link goes to a "page not found" error. The Slideshow from the first link indeed shows small images. If you go to the Slideshow page and do a "view source" and then search for "31" you will see that there is code there that forces images to display at 31px x 31px. This is not code generated by Shozam. You can verify this by checking the Slideshow files on you local computer. We have seen this behavior in the past with Frontpage Extensions but it is possible that other software does the same. With Frontpage it looks like the alteration does not happen during upload but rather at the time the page is served, meaning that it needs to be kept off, not just during the upload of the gallery.

    You can test using the Shozam test account available to you in Step 6. It uploads to our test servers which do not use Frontpage Server Extensions or any other software on the server that takes the unsolicited "initiative" to edit your HTML files without notification and without your approval.

    Re: Slideshow does not work

    Razvan,

     Thanks for the reply. I uploaded to http://go.shozam.com/xermffgd/index.htm and the Slideshow does not work there either.

    Not sure why you got the "Page not found" error at http://www.westwoodgolf.info/MFCWebgallery/ because it works from here and your Help desk can reach it also. That is the account where I have not installed FP extensions yet.

    Thinking there may be something FP did to the theme page, I recreated a new gallery with a new theme straight from Shozam and not using FP. I uploaded to both the FP extensions installed and the non FP extensions installed accounts. The Slideshow would not work with either account. They are:

    1. http://www.themarketfloorcenter.com/testgallery/  (FP extensions installed)

    2. http://www.westwoodgolf.info/testgallery/ (no FP extensions installed)

     Thanks for your help!

    Re: Slideshow does not work

     Everett,

    Your having the same problem I am having but I don't believe FP is the culprit.  I've kept galleries completely outside of the grasp of FP and they work fine except from my computer.  All the galleries have been tested from a local library computer and all functions work fine.

    My problem started when I went from 13 to 14 and it seems like Safari for Windows is affecting me. All my gallery slideshows work fine from my computer when viewed with Safari but are dead with other browsers- identical to yours.  Yours work fine in Safari but are dead in Firefox, IE, Opera and Netscape.

     I submitted a ticket awhile back and did some tests for them.  Still waiting for the results.

    I am concerned about the issue but because I know slideshows are working fine from other computers, I'll let support work on it. With another person reporting the same problem, that should give them more data to work with.  It seems to be a glitch that affects only certain combinations of software on a computer

    Re: Slideshow does not work

    Everett, let's keep this communication in the Help Desk. Customer support technicians are not monitoring the forums so any information you post will not be seen by them.

    The Slideshow issue you and Cowboy are experiencing are different than the Slideshow/Frontpage issue (which forces Slideshow images to display as tiny 31px x 31px squares and is caused by Frontpage modifying the HTML files).

    Your issue has to do with some Javascript settings on your computer(s) and my understanding is that the Slideshow page does not display at all. Clicking on the Slideshow link just doesn't do anything except display a Javascript error. Correct?

    I am able, from my computer, to see all your slideshows display without any problem. (That is when your server is up; I've had problems accessing the two main domains you sent, at one time or another.) I can see them correctly from all our lab computers and this is likely the case for the vast majority of your viewers. However, the technical team is looking into what/why causes the Slideshow error in certain situations.

    Again, until this issue is resolved, please make sure you forward all relevant information to Help Desk since they are the ones that are in the best position to figure this out.

     Everett,

    I just tested all the links you had in your post with Firefox. All but #1 worked fine including the slideshow. Link #1

    http://www.themarketfloorcenter.com/testgallery/

    This link returned a "Server not found" error.

    Re: Slideshow does not work

    Thanks for looking Tom. However, I can get to http://www.themarketfloorcenter.com/testgallery/ and so can several other people I talked to. They said the Slideshow worked for them. It does not work for me in IE 6, Netscape 6, and Netscape 8.

    However, they see small images from the link from the main page at  http://www.themarketfloorcenter.com.

    Re: Slideshow does not work

    Everett,  Can you tell me how you corrected your slideshow in Front Page?  Both of your links worked so I asume you changed something.  Thank you.

    http://www.linderhranch.com/RanchSortin.htm   Click on Chishom Trail 2007.  This is the slideshow I am testing.  I like the slideshow but I would like it all to work since I paid for it. The slide show is why I bought it.  Maybe I made a big mistake.

    Re: Slideshow does not work

     I just viewed your slideshow. Definitely very tiny images. This problem has come up many times in the forums. It is a frontpage issue with frontpage extensions. Cowboy knows the exact remedy but I think this could also work: publish your gallery outside of your frontpage website so that frontpage does not apply extensions to it. There is a post in here somewhere about the frontpage extensions and shozam galleries. I will look for it and post in here when I find it.

    Re: Slideshow does not work

     If you are generating your gallery directly into your FP web on your computer and publishing it with FP to your server, you will get the problem you are having.  You also can't upload directly to the directory you are publlshing to.  You need to create a subweb on your main web and upload the gallery to it without using the FP publish function or it's built in FTP function.

    Go here ---->  FrontPage Fix

     I was experiencing what Tom and I see and it was corrected.

    The gallery I linked to in the post is gone but this one is on the same server.

    Re: Slideshow does not work

    Surround your code with the following tags and FrontPage will not reformat it.

    <!--webbot bot="HTMLMarkup" startspan -->

    your code here

    <!--webbot bot="HTMLMarkup" endspan -->

    In FrontPage 2003, this feature may also be accessed by selecting the Insert menu and choosing Web Component... Advanced Controls... HTML.

    Re: Slideshow does not work

    I know nothing about your product, but will add a couple of notes about the FrontPage HTML Markup component in the hope that the information may be of value.

     * The HTML Markup component tags will not correct anything, they simply prevent reformatting of the code between them.

     * The HTML Markup component tags need to be between the <body> and </body> tags.

     * HTML Markup component tags do not rely on the FrontPage server extensions.

    Some additional possibly useful information:

    The usual authoring scenario is to create and edit the FrontPage web site files on your computer then publish the site to the web server. Under this scenario, you can put additional folders in the site on the server that FrontPage knows nothing about and cares nothing about. These additional non FrontPage folders may hold anything such as externally-generated slide show files and other scripts such as PHP message forums. The files in this folder will not be edited by FrontPage.

    Re: Slideshow does not work

    Jstorck,

    I did a "view source" on the slideshow page and do not see the tags in there. Do you have the Business Edition and tried to place the tags in Step 5 on the HTML tab?

    Top box:

    <!--webbot bot="HTMLMarkup" startspan -->

    Bottom box:

    <!--webbot bot="HTMLMarkup" endspan -->

    This should place all generated code, on all gallery pages under the webbot comments (and supposedly be excluded by FrontPage modifications)

    Did you try this and the slideshow still showed tiny 31px images? If so, can you post it again with that code in so we can verify this?

    Re: Slideshow does not work

    It now appears to work using FP loading with extensions. Winsave/Gates host.
    Loaded with FrontPage Publish command

    www.primetimebulldogs.com/test/index.htm.

     Do This: Step 5:
