    Black Marble Theme Tutorial

This is a small tutorial for creating a theme that:

    1. Demonstrates creation and insertion of a custom Banner image.
    2. Demonstrates creation and insertion of a custom Menu/Footer Bar image.
    3. Changes the Global/Default/Background image.
    4. Changes color of Vertical Border to match Banner & Menu/Footer image borders.
    5. Hides the Main Divider Lines.
    6. Hides the Gallery Title.
    7. Changes the Banner Link style.
    8. Modifies text and links in the gallery.

The tutorial uses the Reflection Black theme as a base but you can apply this tutorial to any theme.

You will need an image creation program to create the images with the exception of the Global/Defaults/Background image.  If you want to duplicate the theme as iis, you can download the marble.jpg from the gallery as well as the banner and menu/footer images if you don't want to make them or can't.  Image protection is not enabled.

The tutorial is in steps so you can see the progress.  Experienced users can just go right through the Customize steps to save time or ignore this tutorial completely.

Below are the links you will need:

    Re: Black Marble Theme Tutorial

Beautiful website. But on this forum the link looks like this:

    http://www.ohiowebs.net/gallery/Black Marble/

with a space between "Black" and "Marble" which I do not think should be there. Then on the website itself the browser bar shows a horrid URL like this:

    http://www.ohiowebs.net/gallery/Black%20Marble/

And apparently it has mixed upper/lower case in the URL - can you show how to fix this in the tutorial?

I think these bugs can be patched at the server level using canonical renaming but a product as expensive as Shozam should not be like this?

     mromero,

    No need to fix anything.

You seem to have got to the theme with the spaces in the url via the hyperlink. Others have also.

Some people like to use spaces and some don't when naming their galleries.  Obviously you don't like the look of the url with spaces, so don't use them when naming your galleries.

It's not a matter of liking, it's trying to be neat and tidy and conforming to strict standards to make your sites rank #1 in an increasingly competitive environment. I almost feel I am in the wrong forum or territory?

Shozam will be regarded as a product for amateurs and hobbyists if it does not get its act together on these various issues.

I would like for it to become a quality product that professional webmasters can use and recommend, a standard in its niche like for example Dreamweaver.

Our company began using Dreamweaver from its launch in 1997. It had some rough edges but the developers had a passion for excellence and listened to their users rather than spewing out excuses for shoddy coding. The program evolved over a decade just getting better until it became the darling of professional webmasters. That's what I wish for Shozam.

P.S. I also wish for a better name. Shozam rhymes with sham. Why not something more indicative of the product's function, for e.g. Web Gallery Factory, or Webmaster Gallery Pro or something like that? That is if the developers are aiming to capture professional webmasters into their client base.

Thanks for putting this on the forum. Very helpful!
