Views on my new site www.juliesinclair.com

    Hi

I've just set up as a freelance photographer in the UK and would like some views on my website www.juliesinclair.com

Please let me know if it looks professional, and please give me feedback about my photography on there and any areas that I could improve on.

    Any comments welcome.

    Thanks

    Julie Sinclair

     Julie,

Your photos are very nice.  I really like how you kept the number of photos limited to the same number in each album.  Keeps it concise and uniform for visitors yet they can still see samples of your work.

Now, what edition of Shozam (Advanced, Business or ?) do you have and do you have experience with an editor like Dreamweaver, Frontpage or can you compose HTML code with Notepad?

I was just finishing up my comment to you and I got sidetracked, that is Golden aged talk for "dozed off"; we do that after 60, but when I got back on track, the post was gone. Chalk one up for the cyberspace marauder. Now, if I could just remember what I said. I'm sure it sounded profound at the time. Enough of a soliloquy on old age.

First off, I particularly liked the B/W male portrait on the wheel. I think you captured a special essence there.  My first impression or your site was that it seemed a bit empty to me. I'm all for simplicity but there has to be something to keep us old guys awake. I was particularly interested in your site because you used the same template (metal wheel) that I did. www.DSDigitals.com  I also like the wheel but it is rather cold. I think I would change some of the wheel pictures to add more color and warmth to the site home page. The keyword here is I.

While it is nice to get other opinions,  it is your personality you are selling here. Design your site to resonate with you. A good website will grow with you. OK, Enough philosophy, The bottom line: It is a good start. You have added a web presence. You have some good pictures. Currently, I don't think it showcases your work as well as it could. Work it like you do a good photograph because that is really what it is. It is a dynamic picture. The same rules apply to make it look good and hold the viewers attention.  Shozam is an excellent design tool for presenting photographs but I think it needs more for that all important opening page. This is particularly true as it grows in popularity and the limited number of pre-made templates begin to saturate the internet. I know mine will be changing in the not-to-distant future to be more original. The individual galleries are still great but the home page needs to be more personal.

I have been up from my nap long enough. Time for bed.

over 60 and no longer counting!

     Hey DSDigitals,

You ever find the Old Folks thread here?

Surviving on the North Coast watching the 20+ inches of Global Warming that fell on my homestead slowly disappear.

Social Security keeps sending me this stupid letter telling me that I don't have enough quarters or whatever to collect any benefits.  I keep telling them to quit wasting a Forever stamp by sending the stupid letter and I am more then happy watching my government pension check show up on the first of the month.

GettingOldisHell.com is still available if anyone wants it. Big Smile

Do we have a thread? I can't see it without my glasses.

I have enough quarters, it is the dollars that I am short.

I tried to get on that website you mentioned but the access was restricted. It said something about the fact that I was the first of the baby boomer's so I had to wait till I was 102 to get full access to the site. By then all the glaciers will be melted and we will all be up on the mountains and high plains.

Better get to bed so I can get up before morning nap.
