    Streaming video

I noticed video galleries that buffer for long times until video plays and others that use a youtube video that has the youtube stuff on it.

I am testing flv files and posted it in the general forum also.

I converted 2 wmv videos to flv and encoded them in a streaming encrypted manner and they seem to play ok.

    Re: Streaming video

Ron, looks great! Would you elaborate on your workflow? What did you use for converting from wmv to flv and then what did you enter for the widget code?

Generally, Flash video (flv) is best way to view video on the Web and is the most compatible accross various browsers/platforms. However, it is also the one format which takes more work to author in, since no video camera outputs in flv format. YouTube is an easy workaround since they do the conversion AND the hosting...

An upcoming Beta version will support Windows Media Player, Flash Player and QuickTime player. Users will just import a video file foramt and Shozam! will provide the HTML wrapper calling the appropriate player.

We are also doing some tests internally to fine tune "best practices" that we would then post in the help files.

    Re: Streaming video

Razvan, I would of replied sooner but it never seems to alert me when a post is replied to, I will have to double check my options and settings.

What I used was a low cost 3 software package available here

It works so nice, encrypts the code so video won't play on other peoples sites unless you want it to, then do it unencrypted

I believe it supports many video formats avi, wmv, mpg, mpeg, asf, mp4, dat, vob, and 3gp

You first use the FLV encoder then use the Streaming video software and choose a player and size.

For $49.00 I love it, heck a 50MB video will play instantly and all files needed save to a folder.

    It is worth looking into.

    Sorry for the late reply.

    Re: Streaming video

    Good info.

How do you integrate it with the Shozam gallery?

I assume the Streaming software generates a SWF file, which you place somewhere within your gallery directory and then place some custom "widget code" instead of the You Tube one. Correct?

Does the Streaming program provides the HTML code for you or do you need to know what to enter in the Shozam Video Widget popup?

Do you have the option to specify the native size of the converted FLV in the FLV Encoder and then the size of the player in the Streaming software?

Would this be a foolproof solution we can recommend to fellow Shozamers without a technical skillset?

I am interested in finding the best workflow for turning any of the hodge-podge of video formats available into nice Flash video for users' Shozam galleries. Your input is appreciated.

    Re: Streaming video

Here is a remake of the halloween video and others kinda easy steps it took to make it work on shozam

Created with streaming software information can be found by Clicking Here

I will make a video tutorial tomorrow and replace this one at this page.

First I use the FLV encoder and I selected the Halloween 20MB WMV file
You can select a size 160x120 up to 768x576 to encode it to.
Select the output folder to save the encoded file to.
I selected 800 as a bit rate this time for DSL users.
It took 1 minute 2 seconds to encode the wmv file to FLV
Cut it down from 12MB to 6MB in size.
Next it goes to a screen and then a quick success on an enjection message.
    That part is now done.

    Next is selecting a player.
So I start up the streaming video software next.
This time I am trying a 320x240 with control buttons. My other ones I selected no buttons.
I also select autoplay on load so when the icon in shazam is clicked it will play, and then if you want to replay it you can do so with the player controls.
Next you select the file you saved from the wmv to fla conversion
Next enter the url to your site you are saving the files to.
Next select the folder to save the html code to
Last is selecting the code to save as encrypted or not to encrypt.
    I selected to encrypt
This takes 2 seconds to do.
It spits out the following code I will use for this shozam example.
It is inserted into add widget code.
Thats it, upload all files to a folder on the server.

    Below is the code encrypted

    <script language="JavaScript">
    document.write(unescape("\x3c\x6f\x62\x6a\x65\x63\x74\x20\x63\x6c\x61\x73\x73\x69\x64\x3d\x22\x63\x6c\x73\x69\x64\x3a\x64\x32\x37\x63\x64\x62\x36\x65\x2d\x61\x65\x36\x64\x2d\x31\x31\x63\x66\x2d\x39\x36\x62\x38\x2d\x34\x34\x34\x35\x35\x33\x35\x34\x30\x30\x30\x30\x22\x20\x63\x6f\x64\x65\x62\x61\x73\x65\x3d\x22\x68\x74\x74\x70\x3a\x2f\x2f\x64\x6f\x77\x6e\x6c\x6f\x61\x64\x2e\x6d\x61\x63\x72\x6f\x6d\x65\x64\x69\x61\x2e\x63\x6f\x6d\x2f\x70\x75\x62\x2f\x73\x68\x6f\x63\x6b\x77\x61\x76\x65\x2f\x63\x61\x62\x73\x2f\x66\x6c\x61\x73\x68\x2f\x73\x77\x66\x6c\x61\x73\x68\x2e\x63\x61\x62\x23\x76\x65\x72\x73\x69\x6f\x6e\x3d\x36\x2c\x30\x2c\x30\x2c\x30\x22\x20\x77\x69\x64\x74\x68\x3d\x22\x33\x32\x30\x22\x20\x68\x65\x69\x67\x68\x74\x3d\x22\x32\x37\x30\x22\x20\x61\x6c\x69\x67\x6e\x3d\x22\x6d\x69\x64\x64\x6c\x65\x22\x3e\x0d\x0a\x3c\x70\x61\x72\x61\x6d\x20\x6e\x61\x6d\x65\x3d\x22\x6d\x6f\x76\x69\x65\x22\x20\x76\x61\x6c\x75\x65\x3d\x22\x68\x74\x74\x70\x3a\x2f\x2f\x63\x6d\x63\x61\x6d\x70\x65\x72\x2e\x63\x6f\x6d\x2f\x73\x68\x6f\x7a\x61\x6d\x32\x2f\x57\x4d\x4d\x5f\x33\x32\x30\x32\x37\x30\x32\x34\x30\x5f\x54\x59\x50\x45\x30\x32\x2e\x53\x57\x46\x3f\x75\x3d\x78\x62\x63\x26\x61\x6d\x70\x3b\x6f\x3d\x79\x62\x63\x26\x61\x6d\x70\x3b\x69\x3d\x79\x62\x63\x26\x61\x6d\x70\x3b\x62\x3d\x32\x26\x61\x6d\x70\x3b\x66\x3d\x68\x74\x74\x70\x3a\x2f\x2f\x63\x6d\x63\x61\x6d\x70\x65\x72\x2e\x63\x6f\x6d\x2f\x73\x68\x6f\x7a\x61\x6d\x32\x2f\x68\x61\x6c\x6c\x6f\x77\x65\x65\x6e\x32\x30\x30\x36\x2e\x66\x6c\x76\x26\x61\x6d\x70\x3b\x64\x3d\x79\x62\x63\x22\x3e\x0d\x0a\x3c\x70\x61\x72\x61\x6d\x20\x6e\x61\x6d\x65\x3d\x22\x71\x75\x61\x6c\x69\x74\x79\x22\x20\x76\x61\x6c\x75\x65\x3d\x22\x68\x69\x67\x68\x22\x3e\x0d\x0a\x3c\x70\x61\x72\x61\x6d\x20\x6e\x61\x6d\x65\x3d\x22\x6d\x65\x6e\x75\x22\x20\x76\x61\x6c\x75\x65\x3d\x22\x66\x61\x6c\x73\x65\x22\x3e\x0d\x0a\x3c\x70\x61\x72\x61\x6d\x20\x6e\x61\x6d\x65\x3d\x22\x61\x6c\x6c\x6f\x77\x53\x63\x72\x69\x70\x74\x41\x63\x63\x65\x73\x73\x22\x20\x76\x61\x6c\x75\x65\x3d\x22\x73\x61\x6d\x65\x44\x6f\x6d\x61\x69\x6e\x22\x3e\x0d\x0a\x3c\x65\x6d\x62\x65\x64\x20\x73\x72\x63\x3d\x22\x68\x74\x74\x70\x3a\x2f\x2f\x63\x6d\x63\x61\x6d\x70\x65\x72\x2e\x63\x6f\x6d\x2f\x73\x68\x6f\x7a\x61\x6d\x32\x2f\x57\x4d\x4d\x5f\x33\x32\x30\x32\x37\x30\x32\x34\x30\x5f\x54\x59\x50\x45\x30\x32\x2e\x53\x57\x46\x3f\x75\x3d\x78\x62\x63\x26\x61\x6d\x70\x3b\x6f\x3d\x79\x62\x63\x26\x61\x6d\x70\x3b\x69\x3d\x79\x62\x63\x26\x61\x6d\x70\x3b\x62\x3d\x32\x26\x61\x6d\x70\x3b\x66\x3d\x68\x74\x74\x70\x3a\x2f\x2f\x63\x6d\x63\x61\x6d\x70\x65\x72\x2e\x63\x6f\x6d\x2f\x73\x68\x6f\x7a\x61\x6d\x32\x2f\x68\x61\x6c\x6c\x6f\x77\x65\x65\x6e\x32\x30\x30\x36\x2e\x66\x6c\x76\x26\x61\x6d\x70\x3b\x64\x3d\x79\x62\x63\x22\x20\x71\x75\x61\x6c\x69\x74\x79\x3d\x22\x68\x69\x67\x68\x22\x20\x6d\x65\x6e\x75\x3d\x22\x66\x61\x6c\x73\x65\x22\x20\x20\x77\x69\x64\x74\x68\x3d\x22\x33\x32\x30\x22\x20\x68\x65\x69\x67\x68\x74\x3d\x22\x32\x37\x30\x22\x20\x61\x6c\x6c\x6f\x77\x53\x63\x72\x69\x70\x74\x41\x63\x63\x65\x73\x73\x3d\x22\x73\x61\x6d\x65\x44\x6f\x6d\x61\x69\x6e\x22\x20\x74\x79\x70\x65\x3d\x22\x61\x70\x70\x6c\x69\x63\x61\x74\x69\x6f\x6e\x2f\x78\x2d\x73\x68\x6f\x63\x6b\x77\x61\x76\x65\x2d\x66\x6c\x61\x73\x68\x22\x20\x70\x6c\x75\x67\x69\x6e\x73\x70\x61\x67\x65\x3d\x22\x68\x74\x74\x70\x3a\x2f\x2f\x77\x77\x77\x2e\x6d\x61\x63\x72\x6f\x6d\x65\x64\x69\x61\x2e\x63\x6f\x6d\x2f\x67\x6f\x2f\x67\x65\x74\x66\x6c\x61\x73\x68\x70\x6c\x61\x79\x65\x72\x22\x3e\x3c\x2f\x65\x6d\x62\x65\x64\x3e\x0d\x0a\x3c\x2f\x6f\x62\x6a\x65\x63\x74\x3e"))

The only thing I dont care for is having to select a picture before you can add the video.
That dont make sense and don't look good to me either.
