Confused [*-)] Sell = Prices problem

I noticed a glitch with the "Sell" part. No matter how many times I save the input items they arent available once I leave that particular album. Is this meant to be like that? or just a glitch on my end?
    Sincerely,

    John

I did a quick mock gallery with Pay Pal functionality and when I go back to the album I am anble to see the saved input items.  Do you have the newest version installed?  The only thing that I don't understand is when I go to view the gallery, I don't see the price that I assigned to each picture.  Do you know if the price is suppose to be visible when you go to the gallery to view the pics?  Once I click on the "add to cart" and then I go to "view cart" that is where I do see the price I assigned to the picture.  I would like for the price the be visible when the viewer is scrolling through the pictures.  Other then keying in the price on the picture description do you know if the software is suppose to automatically include it somewhere?

I haven't had a chance to test the new beta yet.  However this what I did.  In Item Name, put in the size of the photo and the price such as: 11x14 - $105.  This will show just above the "Add to Cart" below your photo.  That way people know what size they are ordering and what it costs.  In Item ID, put in the name of the photo and the size ordered i.e. Birds Aloft - 11x14.  That will show on the PayPal invoice and indicate to you what was ordered.  Take a look at www.rewest.mydurango.net and go to my "Gallery of Photographs" for an example

    Re: Sell = Prices problem

Maybe the issue I am having isnt a problem but a request. I am not sure what it is exactley at this point. Let me try and describe it clearer.

I can set up the pricing just as you have in one album, when I go to a different album, I have to input all the information again. I was hoping that they would just carry over for the whole gallery of albums, and not just one album at a time. Hope this cleared things up some.

    Sincerely,

    John

I haven't seen a way yet to get the pricing to carry over to all albums yet.  That would definitely be a nice feature.

You can select all images and assign a price to all. However, the limitation is that you can select all images only in Step 2, which shows all images for the respective album. This means that indeed you have to enter pricing information one album at a time.

After the initial release we can look at ways by which pricing can be propagated to the whole gallery in order to simplify workflow.

    Re: Sell = Prices problem

It would be great if the pricing structure could be selected from the drop down list in any gallery it would save me having to enter 3 or 4 different products everytime i add a new gallery.

This iswhat I was coming to the wishlist forum to request.

The low-tech way I'm getting around it at the mo is I've saved my standard options in notepad and cut and paste into each gallery.  It would be much easier to just select from a drop-down menu though

Razvan you said after release you would look into ways of being able to save and propergate the prices through out the gallery this is one of the reasons i purchased this business edition but this part seems to have been forgotton it is getting very log winded now just to add a gallery i have 3 products that have to be entered every time are you going to implement this or have i been duped into buying somthing that is not going to have this added i am spending far too much time adding prices only to sell may be 1 or 2 prints

Mark, are you selecting all images in the album and applying the settings to all at one time? (this should not take that long, compared to doing each image one at a time...) However, pricing would need to be entered when adding new images, albums or galleries.

I looked into this feature and currently there is no place or data structure to store/select the pricing (or any other information for that matter) from one gallery to another. Adding this feature would require some major modifications to how the program works so it is unlikely it will be implemented in one of the incremental minor updates.

     Ken,

    Welcome to Shozam.

Although I am not familiar with PayPal, shopping carts I have worked with generally calculate shipping in one of 2 ways:

    1.  The cost of shipping is included in the price or;

    2. Shipping is calculated at time of checkout by a combination of factors like weight, size, distance, shipper, etc.

    Hope this helps.

Cowboy is right. I sell photos using Shozam and the shipping is something you set up in your Paypal account. Shozam just sets the pricing and Paypal picks it up from there once they start the checkout procedure.

    Re: Sell = Prices problem

hi there again guys and thanks for the speedy replies, i have already submitted a site with some of my clients paintings on (www.mr-prints.co.uk) and added the pricing, all very simple and straightforward, but im still not sure how to implement the delivery charges within paypal, normally on commerce sites the delivery is worked out in the shopping cart, also i looked at the website by tom purse and it seems that there is some code for the side menu which would of great interest to me, there are several quirks that i cant get my head round...

    1. doesnt matter how little i change in the gallery the generation process always insists on processing every file even with the box ticked telling it not to.

    2.  the shipping / delivery charge

    3. there is no way of allowing a quantity of the same item to be sold as far as i can tell.

    4. there is no where to put my contact details

i know some of these points may be common sense to you chaps but im lost with them and would appreciate a point in the right direction, i have worked on a number of sites and am quite literate with html but i have never worked with frames, most of my efforts have been table based sites, if i can help anyone in the future i would be glad to do so, i will be using shozam for a very long time to come, thanks in advance . . .
