I am in the process of redesigning my site, www.dreamworkimages.com. The only software I used when creating my site was Shozam's Business Edition.

I would like to add links to my site which would bring the viewer to different albums, for example of what I am trying to explain please visit http://michaelhacker.com/index.html under Shozam's example websites. I am trying to create a layout similar to this, notice the home, artbook and the other links on this site.

In Step 5 I noticed the link option:

Under the "text" tab, I assume this is what the link will be displayed as. If I type in "Coffee Table Book", the link will show as Coffee Table Book in my header.

• Under the "link" tab  I am unsure what to do. Where do I find the information to put is this tab? I want to create a "Coffee Table Book" link located in my header. Do I create a Coffee Table Book album in Step 3 and than hide it so it is not displayed as a thumbnail? If so, what is the link code needed for this album and where can I find it?

 In the link box you would add the url to the file which would open your Coffee Table Book. I don't believe you need to put in any HTML coding, I think Shozam does this.

To further clarify, note that the Michael Hacker example you pointed out is using just one gallery, with multiple albums. The gallery resides in a dedicated "gallery" folder on the server. The gallery URL is http://michaelhacker.com/gallery/index.htm. This Shozam user has created their own Web page as their "home" page at http://michaelhacker.com/gallery/index.htm.

You can link directly to an album inside a Shozam gallery by creating links pointing to the URL of that album (look in the Web browser address bar when you view the album page).

However, if you want to create additional pages, outside of Shozam, that you can link to from within Shozam gallery pages, you can also have the Shozam gallery uploaded in the main directory of your Web server so the main gallery page will also be your home page. In this case, the links that you enter on the Link tab in Step 5 should point to whatever Web pages you construct (outside of Shozam). To keep "clean house" I recommend these pages to be in separate directory from your Shozam gallery structure.

I recommend you first determine the structure of your full site (are you having other pages besides Shozam generated pages, and if so will your home page be the Shozam gallery main page or one of the other pages.) The understanding of this structure will determine how you should use Shozam (and where to upload the gallery, in the root directory or a sub-directory) to best fit your needs.

Think my question ties in with Razvan's reply but would like to be sure that I understand him correctly.

I'm building a website for a jewelry artist and came up with an index page that, because of the playful style I chose, does not really lend itself to the use of any of the square Shozam templates, ie. not without alterations.

To better blend my Shozam pages into the site, I would like to link straight from 'my'  -- not the Shozam gallery's -- index page to individual album pages (thumbnails on my index page linked to Shozam album 1, earrings, Shozam album 2, fingerrings...), ie. without going through the Shozam gallery page conncected with the individual albums.

Question: Is there a way to do this? Could I build -- and upload -- a complete gallery to keep the whole set-up functioning but then just use the links from my index page to the individual Shozam albums, without presenting the gallery page itself to the viewer? It would be important to retain the PayPal functionality and the Details sections.

I am trying to use the Reflections-Black Mini, trying because I'm still trying to work out how to simplify the design to get the colors to match those of my site better etc.

 You could make links to each individual album inside the gallery. The index.htm file inside each of the gallery's sub-folders will call up that album, but I don't think there is a way to keep the theme from coming up. What I've done (using reflection black and reflection black-mini) to make it look more incorporated into my website is to call the gallery in an iframe. I could, theoretically call each individual album from my main navigation bar and do it that way but chose to use the thumbnail approach in the gallery since I will be having many albums. Take a look at my website and you'll see how it's done. I have two galleries you can look at: a personal gallery and a stock photo gallery (this one uses a modified reflection black theme). The other uses reflection black-mini. Both are loaded into an iframe.

Thank you, Tom. I very much enjoyed your beautiful photos on http://www.northwest-scenescapes.com. Looking at them was like a little get-away from a gray day in New York, thank you for that, as well.

What I would like to avoid is that view of the black-mini-frame; in your site, the link would go straight from "stock photo gallery'' to one of your flower shots (to just name an example): One of the images would be visible in a large version, while the others show up as thumbnails. The other kinds of, in my case, jewelry would then be accessible through a navigation bar.

Guess the thing for me to figure out will then be how to better work with iframes. In your case: Did you use the Shozam set-up to the end, then? In step 5 of the gallery set-up, there's a possibility to insert tags for SEO. Do you know whether search engines work with iframes and with this set-up of Shozam?

I have not created the links or the pages which are to be linked.

If you go to my site you will notice my different albums on the right. They represent different caterogies of my work. What I am looking to do is create different links on my header, such as coffee table book, contact, etc, while not having them displayed on the right with the rest of my work. To make a coffee table page or contact page do I have to create a new album in Step 3? How do I create the coffee table book or contact page while not having it displayed on the right but is accessible through the link located on the header, will I have to hide these albums? One last question, how do obtain the link inforamation in the address bar if I have not yet completed the ablums or if the album is hidden "because I do not want it displayed on the right with my work"?

You got me thinking so I played around with one of my galleries.

You need to look at Gallery 1 first which is my original USO of Northern Ohio gallery.  In it, I link to pages within the site using the header links and all the album thumbnails are visible.

In Gallery 2, I hid all the albums and used the header links to link to the first page of each album.  Plus, I hid the Intro and Index labels and just left the Slideshow.  Gallery Help link would be your Contact, Bio, etc.

I think that is what you are trying to accomplish.  The theme used is a custom one and the banner is hidden.  The Intro runs from a hidden album as well. The top image is called in through the HTML tab.

You need to get your links from whatever URL the first album page is at.

First of all, you need to learn more about how Shozam works and increase your grasp of HTML.

Follow along with me:

1. You need to learn to use the Step 4 - Customize tab.  Look at the Black Marble Theme. That will help in learning how to customize.

2. Next, HTML coding is important.  You were smart enough to buy the Business Edition with the HTML option so you need to learn more about what you can accomplish by using that. You could build an entire site by using an editor like FrontPage, Dreamweaver or just hand code one but Shozam gives you a lot to work with if you can write code.

Take a look at: Catering by Mark DiFeo.

At the bottom is a nav bar imported using the HTML option to navigate to pages within the site.  Click on Menus and then choose a menu from the page.  It will open in a new widow as a .pdf.

That link will open a .pdf in a new window.

What I am getting at is that if you use the HTML option of the Business Edition and insert a link that you open in a new window to a .pdf, you can allow someone to save or print the information outside of a gallery that can include any information you want like Bio, etc. and make it look good.  Creates a win-win scenario for you.

All you need to do is create a Word doc and convert it to a .pdf and upload it using an FTP program outside of Shozam.  You can create a .pdf  for free at PDF Online.

3. Shozam creates an album with a specific number and once you have one link to the first page of an album, all you need to do is change the link to the new number by switching numbers provide you upload it to the same directory.  You can find the new album number by looking in the folder where you generate the gallery to.

I think you hit the nail on the head, I need to learn more about HTML in order to achieve my layout.

I have a friend who knows HTML. Over the weekend he is going to help me with the code and the instructions you provided.
