    Frontpage

My Shozam Gallery was incorporated into my web site www.myshipimages.com using Microsoft's Frontpage. When I added a new, non Shozam page to my site, I could not write all of the changes into the site's folders. The reason is that Windows servers cannot change permissions on folders once on the server. The solution suggested by the hosting company that actually works is to rename the folders, delete their contents as far as you are able and then upload the amended site using FTP after inhibiting Frontpage extensions. It worked for me and it may be of future help to some Shozammers using Frontpage.

    Regards

    Re: Frontpage

Nice tip for those who use Windows servers.

Fortunately, I'm not one of them. Big Smile

    Hi Cowboy
Good to hear from you again. I believe that you are a Frontpage user so do I take it that with a different server operating system you have not encountered my reported problem so are able to add pages and add page banner headings in the vti folders at will?

    Re: Frontpage

I'm on an Apache 2.0 server. Unless you want to add .ASP to your site, there is really no good reason to be on a Windows server.

Never had your problem regarding adding pages after using FP for years.

When you mention this --> add page banner headings  <--, are you using a theme based function?

I think I remember seeing that somewhere but it is definitely something I don't monkey around with.

    Re: Frontpage

    Hi Cowboy
My site if the first one I have ever built so I needed all the assistance that Frontpage could offer. My approach was to customise one of its pre-installed themes. That probably explains why it structures things the way it does. For the time being the work-round meets my need, even though it leaves unwanted clutter on the server.
